NEMA, through its Corporate Communications Unit, has engaged key senior news editors from various media houses across the country under their umbrella association, the Editorsโ Guild.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Barirega Akankwasah thanked the senior editors for their role in holding NEMA accountable through the media and encouraged them to promote responsible reporting rather than sensational journalism.
The Executive Director also highlighted Ugandaโs notable achievements in the environment sector, noting that the country was ranked 1st in Africa and 4th globally in wetlands conservation. He further mentioned that the National Environment Act, Cap. 181, was voted the best law globally under the World Future Policy Award, among other recognitions.
Dr. Barirega emphasized that environmental stewardship is everyoneโs responsibility and should be embraced by all.
