The Chief of Defence Forces and Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has praised the late retired Major General Christopher Kazoora as a dedicated patriot and disciplined military professional who served the country with integrity and honour.
Gen Kainerugaba’s tribute was conveyed by Lt Gen Sam Kavuma, the Force Commander of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), during Maj Gen Kazoora’s burial ceremony held at his ancestral home in Luwama Village, Kinyogoga Parish, Nakaseke District.
Maj Gen Kazoora passed on on January 9, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital.
“General Kazoora devoted his life to defending this nation. We are grateful for his courage, commitment, and selfless contribution to the service of Uganda,” the tribute stated.
The late officer commenced his military career on May 26, 1979, when he joined FRONASA before later becoming part of the National Resistance Army. Throughout his long and distinguished service, he served in numerous command and administrative positions, playing a key role in strengthening the professionalism and development of the UPDF.
During the funeral service, his widow, Mrs Catherine Nyambuhoro Kazoora, delivered a heartfelt message, describing her husband as a caring and supportive partner during their 38 years together.
“He loved and cared for me deeply and stood by me in every way. I am deeply heartbroken and unsure how life will continue without him,” she said.
She further thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the assistance extended during her husband’s illness and expressed appreciation to the UPDF leadership and officers for their solidarity with the family during the period of mourning.
The burial ceremony was attended by senior UPDF commanders, government officials, religious leaders, relatives, and friends.
