This was revealed by Prof Samuel Kyamanywa , the Chairperson taskforce for the establishment of Bunyoro Public University while in a meeting to brief the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja on the progress of the University at OPM in Kampala.
Prof Kyamanywa told the meeting that consultations are underway of establishing a unique university based on the collegiate system.
The University intends to promote work integrated learning and on the job training through transformative rural and urban development.
The meeting agreed to have the University established at Bulera Core PTC in Hoima will liaison offices in all districts of Bunyoro Kingdom.
Prof Kyamanywa added that they are in the process of developing the Master plan, academia programmes, strategic plan, policies, guidelines and systems for the University.
He says staff recruitment is set to begin as as possible with science teacher education programmes, health and sciences.
The Premier commended the team for the good work done and called for positive energy towards the cause.
Government allocated 2bn in this year’s budget to facilitate and fast track the establishment of the University.
The meeting was attended by Education state Minister Dr Joyce Moriku Kaduchu, a cross section of MPs from Bunyoro kingdom among others.
