PRESIDENT KAGAME RE-ELECTED RPF CHAIRPERSON

President Paul Kagame has been re-elected Chairman of the RPF ruling party at the 16th national congress that took place at the RPF-Inkotanyi party headquarters in Rusororo. Kagame faced competition from Abdul Karim Harerimana, who promised to deliver similar results after spending considerable time with the former Chairman. However, out of 2,102 voters, Kagame was elected with 2,099, while Harerimana received three votes. Consolee Uwimana also become the first woman to be elected as the Vice President of the party since its inception. Addressing the President Kagame later addressed party members, tasking them to carry on with the growth and development agenda.
