The Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi, has appointed Mr. Patrick M. Ayota as the Managing Director of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) for a period of five years effective August 18th,2023. This decision marks a crucial milestone in the trajectory of the fund and its various stakeholders.
This appointment is a direct result of the NSSF Board of Directors’ recommendation to the Minister, aligning with sections 39 and 40 of the NSSF Act as amended.
Mr. Ayota brings with him a wealth of experience. He has effectively fulfilled the role of Acting Managing Director for the past 8 months, during which he ensured stability of the fund during a challenging period. His prior responsibilities encompass roles as Deputy Managing Director since December 2017 and Chief Financial Officer since July 2011.
With unwavering confidence, the Board firmly believes that Mr. Ayota is the most suitable leader to navigate the fund through these crucial times since this appointment arrives amid legislative changes that emphasize the fund’s pivotal role in expanding comprehensive social security coverage to all citizens of Uganda.
