Husband Arrested for Wife and Brother’s Murder in Kasese District

The territorial police in Rwenzori East and Bwera have in custody a man named Muhindo Jackson for the alleged murder of his wife, initially reported as a disappearance, at the beginning of this year, 2023, at Mukunyu trading centre, Kasese district. The suspect had been in an abusive relationship with the victim for ten years, posing as husband and wife. In September 2023, the victim’s relatives pressured the suspect to disclose their sister and daughter’s whereabouts, but he consistently made excuses.

The matter was reported to Bwera police, leading to the suspect’s arrest. Upon interrogation, he confessed to killing his wife, Biira Mary, a 40-year-old peasant from Mukuuyu trading centre, in January 2023, and then secretly burying her body. During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had also murdered his biological brother, Kabutusi Jolesi, in July 2023, burying the body in Kyabikere 1 village, Kanyasi town council, Kasese district. The suspect, believed to have been involved in witchcraft, had no children with his wife, and his wickedness had made him feared within the community.

The police strongly condemn such acts of violence and brutality within domestic settings. The arrest of this notorious killer demonstrates our commitment to fighting violent crime. Investigations are ongoing to determine if any other innocent individuals were victimized by the suspect.
