President Museveni Commends Forces for Preventing the Recently Planned Demonstration

President Museveni congratulated the Armed Forces, Security Forces, and the Wanainchi for preventing the demonstration planned for Tuesday.

He noted two troubling elements of the protest: foreign funding meddling in Africa’s affairs and plans to harm Ugandans. He mentioned that some participants might not have known these intentions and should have heeded police advice.

The President expressed support for peaceful, coordinated anti-corruption demonstrations, referencing a successful 2019 march organized by Nakalema with police coordination.

He suggested that future efforts should be similar and that those involved in foreign-funded schemes should report to the Minister of State for Ethics. Evidence against the demonstration planners will be revealed in court. He indicated that he would discuss this issue further next week.
