The NRM party is in the final phase of preparing a reliable voter register for the 2025 internal elections to select flag bearers, according to Hajjat Medina Naham, the Director of Finance and Administration at the party secretariat.
Hajjat Medina reassured NRM members during a media briefing yesterday in Arua City, where she is overseeing operations at the two West Nile data centers responsible for digitizing the NRM membership register.
The 21-day exercise, conducted at 20 data centers across the country, follows the March 2024 update of the register and the enrollment of new NRM members.
“This time, we aim to ensure an all-inclusive register by the elections, and I anticipate fewer challenges compared to the issues experienced with previous registers,” Hajjat Medina stated.
For this initiative, Medina mentioned that a team comprising data clerks proficient in local languages, IT specialists, verification officers, and supervisors was assembled to maintain accuracy before any data is uploaded into the system.
“So far, we have captured details for approximately 13 million out of the 18 million registered members, and we are confident of completing the task within the set timeframe, or even earlier,” Medina remarked, applauding the efforts of the teams involved.
Once finalized, the register will be printed and distributed to all villages, allowing members to review and verify their details.
“Students and those who missed the earlier registration will also have an opportunity to enroll,” Medina added.
“We recruited highly capable teams to ensure quality work. Their welfare is well-catered for to facilitate seamless operations. So far, there have been no significant challenges as the online system is efficient, and the computers are performing well,” said Irene Nyafono, a supervisor at the Arua City data center.
