The General Court Martial in Makindye, presided over by Chairman Brig. Gen. Robert Freeman Mugabe, has remanded Rtd. Col. Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale to Luzira Prison until January 13, 2025. This decision comes despite the Uganda Law Council granting a practicing certificate to Martha Karua, head of their defense team.
The court also addressed contempt charges arising from the misconduct of Aaron Kizza, one of Besigye’s defense lawyers, who was removed from the court chambers.
