The 11th Edition of the Olympic Values contests concluded successfully at Olive School Namugongo, inspiring hundreds of students from across Uganda to embrace the principles of Olympism through learning, creativity, and healthy competition.
Organized by the Culture and Olympic Education Commission of the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) with support from Olympic Solidarity, this year’s contest was held under the theme, “Live the Values, Shape the Future.”
The event brought together learners from more than 23 schools representing Uganda’s Central, Eastern, Western, and South-Western regions.
Students showcased their talents and knowledge in a variety of activities, including debates, public speaking, essay writing, poetry recitals, quiz bowl competitions, and other value-based challenges. To promote unity and teamwork, participants were placed in mixed groups named after eight Olympic values: Respect, Joy of Effort, Balance, Friendship, Fair Play, Peace, Humanity, and Excellence.
After an exciting competition, team Peace emerged as the overall winner.

Speaking during the event, Uganda Olympic Committee President Dr. Donald Rukare highlighted the importance of Olympic values in shaping responsible, resilient, and ethical young leaders.
Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions and creative presentations focused on building stronger communities through positive values.
The event was also graced by Miss Uganda 2026, Trivia Muhoza, who inspired students with messages on self-awareness, respect, friendship, and the empowerment of the girl child.
The top five performers from various categories will represent Uganda at the Olympic values symposium in Lesotho this July.
Participating schools included Mbale SS, Gombe SSS, Mbarara High School, Muntuyera High School, Viva College Jinja, Bishop Cipriano Kihangire, Mpigi Light College-Bozza, and Kira College Butiki.
