Senior United States officials have concluded a visit to Uganda, where they held discussions with Health Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi on regional health security and the ongoing Ebola response.
The delegation also visited screening operations at Entebbe International Airport and the Uganda–Democratic Republic of Congo border, where they were joined by the State Minister for Primary Health Care, Dr. Charles Ayume.
The United States remains the largest donor to the regional Ebola response, having provided more than 370 million dollars in support. The assistance builds on the 2.3-billion-dollar U.S.–Uganda Health Memorandum of Understanding and reflects the two countries’ long-term commitment to strengthening global health security and building self-reliant health systems.
