Uganda’s Olympic Dream Lives On

Uganda’s hopes for medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics are still alive as the nation’s athletes take to the track this evening.

Rowing sensation Kathleen Noble concluded her Olympic journey with a bang, setting a new national record of 7:56.10 in the Single Scull Rowing Final E. While her 26th place finish mirrors her Tokyo 2020 result, Noble’s record-breaking performance is a testament to her dedication and talent.

In the pool, swimmer Jesse Ssengonzi made history by breaking his own Ugandan national record in the men’s 100m butterfly, clocking an impressive 53.76 seconds. This achievement places him 31st overall.

As the day progresses, athletics will be in the spotlight with Uganda fielding a strong team. Belinda Chemutai and Joy Cheptoyek will compete in the Women’s 5000m heat 1, while Esther Chebet takes on heat 2. The top eight finishers will advance to the final. Halima Nakayi will represent Uganda in the Women’s 800m heat 2, with the top three moving on to the semifinals.

The evening will culminate in the highly anticipated men’s 10k final, where Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei, Jacob Kiplimo, and Martin Magengo Kiprotich will be vying for glory.

All eyes will be on the Stade de France as Uganda’s athletes strive to make the nation proud.

Will Uganda bring home a medal? The nation waits with bated breath.
