This week, General Katumba Wamala, the Minister of Works and Transport, chaired an important meeting with contractors and consultants engaged in road construction and maintenance works.
The discussion centered around key concerns following the integration of UNRA into the Ministry of Works and Transport, with a strong focus on business continuity, project financing, and enhancing efficiency in service delivery. The Ministry, in collaboration with Ministry of Finance , is implementing a strategic work plan to gradually clear outstanding payments, ensuring that road projects continue without financial interruptions.
Minister Wamala also emphasized the need for strict adherence to timelines, noting that delays not only affect progress but also result in unnecessary financial losses. Reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to business continuity, he assured stakeholders of an open-door policy for engagement with service providers, ensuring that road projects remain on track to support both economic growth and national connectivity.
Despite facing financial constraints, the Ministry assured that road construction and maintenance will continue, with measures in place to minimize disruptions and keep the progress steady.
