Following rising public concern over a surge in motorcycle robberies in Lungujja, Kosovo, Mutundwe, and along Nakawuka Road, Nateete police conducted a targeted operation on 11th December 2025, leading to the arrest of seven suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mwesigwa Denis, Washington Erias, Niwugu Samuel, Nasasira Derick, Medy, Mbabali, and Nsereko Sam. Police recovered two motorcycles with registration numbers UEW 612H and UMA 471AG, along with other items believed to have been used in the attacks.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects posed as customers to rob motorcycle riders of their bikes. The individuals are currently held at Lungujja and Wakaliga Police Stations, and a case of aggravated robbery has been opened. Investigations are ongoing.
In a separate operation, police at Central Police Station arrested Mugabi Hakim, also known as “Younger,” a notorious pickpocket along Luwum Street. He was apprehended on 12th December 2025 at around noon in the Mutasa Kafeero area.
Police have emphasized that their operations will continue, particularly as the festive season approaches, to ensure public safety and curb criminal activity in the city.
