Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has challenged his players to step up and show character as they prepare to face Nigeria in their final Group C match at the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
Speaking at the MD-1 press conference in Fes, Put recognised the size of the task ahead but insisted Uganda must play with belief and purpose.
“We are facing a very good team, finalists from the last AFCON,” Put said. “They have maximum points and a strong squad. But in football, anything can happen. We know what is at stake, and we have to go out there and get a result. The only option for the players is to give everything.”

Uganda head into the game knowing they must produce a big performance to keep their tournament hopes alive. Put admitted it will be tough, but said the Cranes cannot afford to approach the match with fear.
Jordan Obita echoed his coach, saying the squad remains positive and ready.
“The team spirit is very high,” Obita said. “We had chances in the last game and didn’t take them, but we move on. We go into this one with belief. We can’t play scared.”
