NRM Leaders in Kigezi Launch Grassroots Mobilisation for President Museveni

Senior NRM leaders have announced plans to intensify nationwide grassroots mobilisation in support of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the forthcoming elections, with a focus on strengthening party structures, ensuring security, and discouraging indiscipline within party ranks.

NRM Deputy Secretary General and National Treasurer Jackline Kyatuheire, accompanied by NRM Auditor Moses Ntahobari Turyomurugyendo and other senior party officials, made the announcement in Kabale during a engagement with the media and regional mobilisers.

Kyatuheire said the party has consolidated its structures across the country and is promoting peaceful politics. She highlighted the introduction of a digital NRM membership register to replace the old paper-based system, describing it as a major milestone that will serve the party for many years.

She added that the party has organised clear leadership from national to village levels, supported by committees, District Executive Committees and village teams, positioning the NRM to confidently compete in the elections. While President Museveni is currently campaigning in the Central region, she said other senior leaders have been deployed across the country to ensure coordinated mobilisation, with Kyatuheire leading efforts in the Kigezi region.

Several senior party leaders attended the engagement, including Col. Edward Natukunda, Moses Ntahobari, Hon. Bahane Silver and Didas Kitakuri.

On security, Kyatuheire said arrangements are in place to protect mobilisers and urged Ugandans to plan responsibly ahead of polling day. She encouraged voters to turn up in large numbers on 15 January and vote for President Museveni, citing peace, infrastructure, the Parish Development Model and other government achievements.

She criticised party members who lost primaries and chose to run as independents, calling it indiscipline and stating that such individuals are not recognised by the party. She urged supporters to vote only for official NRM flag bearers. Addressing concerns in Kabale, she said the district vice chairperson earlier accused of supporting the opposition clarified her position and remains an NRM leader.

Kyatuheire also warned against misuse of campaign materials, saying only authorised chairpersons are allowed to receive official supplies, although individuals may use personal resources to support the President.

She concluded by urging Ugandans to reject political indiscipline and support NRM candidates.
“Our message is clear: vote for NRM flag bearers and President Museveni,” she said.
