The Uganda Police Force, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has intensified intelligence-led disruptive operations across the Kampala Metropolitan Policing Area in a bid to dismantle criminal networks and enhance public safety.
According to Police Spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the coordinated night operations were conducted on 02 March 2026 between 8:00pm and 2:00am. Joint task teams targeted identified crime hotspots where suspected criminals allegedly gather to plan attacks, traffic narcotics, smoke opium, and ambush unsuspecting members of the public.
In Jinja Road Division, operations were carried out in Naguru Go Down, Bank Village and Naguru Village in Nakawa Division, leading to the arrest of eight suspects.
In Mukono District, a joint intelligence-led operation in Wanyonyi, Namuyenje, Kyetume and Nagwa resulted in the apprehension of 18 suspects.
Meanwhile, in Kira Road Division, security teams targeted Kiwatule (Waniduuka) and Kamwokya, where 36 suspects were arrested. In Kira Division, operations conducted in Najjera, Kalintunsi and Bulabira led to the arrest of two suspects.
In total, 64 suspects were apprehended during the coordinated crackdown. All suspects are currently in police custody pending prosecution.
Police also recovered exhibits including suspected narcotic substances and housebreaking implements during the operations.
Kawala urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to keep communities safe.
