Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister Uganda have welcomed the newly appointed Permanent Secretary in charge of Coordination in the Office of the Deputy Head of Public Service, Performance Management, and Service Delivery.
Julius Victor Nkeramihigo was appointed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as Permanent Secretary responsible for policy coordination across the public service.
The announcement of his appointment was delivered by the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, Lucy Nakyobe, who presided over an orientation meeting held at the Office of the President Conference Hall in Kampala.
In her remarks, Nakyobe explained that the new Permanent Secretary will oversee the coordination of government policies and programmes under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Public Service. She noted that the OPM Permanent Secretary, Alex Kakooza, will remain the overall Accounting Officer and continue to implement social action and development programmes.
Nakyobe emphasized that effective coordination within government is critical in ensuring that national priorities are implemented efficiently and that public services reach citizens across the country. She called on staff to support the new Permanent Secretary in executing his duties.
In his address, Nkeramihigo pledged to lead the team responsible for strategic coordination, monitoring, and evaluation, with the goal of strengthening service delivery and ensuring the successful implementation of sustainable national development programmes. He also expressed gratitude to President Museveni for entrusting him with the responsibility of coordinating government programmes.
The Deputy Head of Public Service, Jane Kyarisiima, noted that the addition of the new Permanent Secretary would enhance institutional capacity and improve performance across the public service.
Similarly, Kakooza expressed optimism that the support from the new office would contribute to improved efficiency and better overall performance in government operations.
