Kabale a International Airport Terminal Construction Contract Signed

The Government of Uganda has signed a UGX 232 billion contract with Egyptian-based Samoc Egypt Contractors for the construction of the terminal building at Kabalega International Airport in Hoima District.

The signing ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Works and Transport, Fred Byamukama, and attended by the Egyptian Ambassador to Uganda, the Ugandan Ambassador to Egypt, a delegation from the Egyptian Embassy, and officials from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Works and Transport.

The project, expected to be completed within eight months, marks a shift from the initial UGX 285 billion contract budget under the previous contractor, China Communications Construction Company (CCCC).

The new agreement is expected to accelerate the completion of the airport terminal, a key component of Uganda’s aviation infrastructure and broader efforts to strengthen air transport, tourism and economic activities in the Albertine region.
