Uganda’s Prime Minister Leads Delegation to Global Refugee Forum 2023 in Geneva

The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja arrived in Geneva on December 12th, 2023, for the three-day Global Refugee Forum (GRF) 2023, commencing today. She was welcomed by Ambassador Arthur Kafeero, Deputy Head of Uganda’s Mission in Switzerland, and Brig. General Emmanuel Kazahura, the Defense Attaché to the Mission. The Prime Minister leads Uganda’s delegation to the GRF on behalf of H.E. President Museveni.

The GRF, the world’s largest assembly supporting refugees and their host countries, is convened by Uganda in collaboration with France, Japan, Colombia, and Jordan. The event is co-hosted by the Government of Switzerland and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, with the inaugural GRF held in 2019.

The 2023 GRF provides an opportunity to build upon the progress achieved by governments and other stakeholders in implementing the Global Compact on Refugees. The Forum is a pivotal component of the Global Compact on Refugees, aiming to alleviate pressure on countries hosting refugees, enhance self-reliance among refugees, broaden access to third-country solutions, and support conditions in refugees’ countries of origin to facilitate safe and dignified returns.
