Crested Cranes tumble To Hosts Morocco In Second Group Game

Crested Cranes suffered yet another disappointing result, falling to hosts Morocco in the second group A game played on Tuesday in Rabat.

Despite a spirited performance, the Crested Cranes fell 3-1 to Morocco at Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.

She was also sent off in the second half for a second bookable offence.

The Moroccans for their goals through Rosella Ayane and Ghizlane Chebbak both penalties while the other came from defender El Chad Nesyrine.

Coach George Lutalo made four changes to the team that started against Senegal with Hasifah Nassuna and Yudaya Nakayenze ruled out due to illness. Their places were taken by Sandra Nabweteme and Margaret Namirimu respectively.

The other changes saw Phionah Nabbumba start as a make shift defender in place of Aisha Nantongo while Fazila Ikwaput started ahead of Viola Nambi.

The hosts opened the scores in the 14th minute with Ayane converting from the spot after referee awarded a penalty. Namirimu was adjudged to have fouled Ayane in the area.

Komuntale found the equalizer in the 32nd minute when Shamirah Nalugya won a foul on the right wing. She curled the ball to the near post with the goalkeeper arriving late.

In the second half, Morocco yet again scored from a set piece with El Chad heading home Chebbak’s free kick before the latter converted from the spot nine minutes from time.
