The NRM Vice Chairperson for Kampala Region, Hon. Katongole Singh, has underscored the vital significance of a digitized membership register in facilitating seamless and transparent internal elections.
Hon. Katongole shared these remarks yesterday during a progress review visit to the Mukono Data Center, one of the facilities where the digital registration process is in progress.
During his visit, Hon. Katongole highlighted the exercise’s role in transforming the NRM’s registration system from manual to electronic. “This digital transformation will allow us to maintain permanent records, track updates, and identify active members, those who have left, and those who are deceased. It is a far more efficient system compared to manual methods and will be invaluable during internal elections,” he stated.
He further noted that the digital register will enhance the verification of the party’s voters.
“This initiative will give us a clear understanding of the actual number of eligible voters within the party,” Hon. Katongole said. “It will guide our planning and ensure we focus on active participation rather than simply relying on total numbers.”
Despite acknowledging challenges such as technical setbacks and limited training, Hon. Katongole commended the staff for their dedication and adaptability.
“This is our first comprehensive digitalization initiative, and I am impressed by how quickly our young team has adjusted. Some are managing over 1,000 entries daily, which is outstanding,” he remarked.
