Colonel Deo Akiiki Hands Over Deputy Director Role to Major Bilal Katamba in Defence Public Information Transition

Colonel Deo Akiiki, the outgoing Deputy Director of Defence Public Information, has officially handed over office to Major Bilal Katamba.

Col Akiiki was recently appointed as the Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Presiding over the handover ceremony at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya, Major General Felix Kulayigye, the Director of Defence Public Information, underscored the significance of innovation, teamwork, and leadership in driving progress.

“As a leader, you must allow people to think both within and beyond conventional limits. That’s how individuals and departments grow,” he remarked.

Maj Gen Kulayigye commended Col Akiiki for his dedication and service, highlighting his ability to successfully execute assigned tasks and his innovative contributions over the years.

Expressing his appreciation, Col Akiiki thanked both civilian and military staff for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout his 22-year tenure in the department.

In his acceptance speech, Major Bilal Katamba acknowledged the guidance of Maj Gen Kulayigye and extended his gratitude to his predecessor, Col Akiiki.

The ceremony was attended by staff from the Defence Public Information department.
