Kenneth Apollo Bagamuhunda, Rebecca Nassimbwa Nsumba, Edward Biryetega and Gerald Kakima Agaba have been sworn in as members of the Tax Appeals Tribunal.

The four were appointed in line with the law to support the Tribunal in executing its mandate of handling disputes between taxpayers and revenue authorities.

The Tax Appeals Tribunal handles tax disputes, ensuring fairness, transparency and timely resolution of cases, a process that supports confidence in Uganda’s business environment.

The swearing-in adds to ongoing efforts to strengthen institutions that uphold the rule of law while supporting economic growth and investment.

At the ceremony, Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire commended the Tribunal’s leadership for progress made over the past two years, describing it as one of the most effective tribunals in the country.

He said its performance has been supported by a strong working relationship with the Courts, which has helped maintain consistency in the interpretation of tax law.

Justice Kiryabwire said tax administration must remain fair, transparent and grounded in the law, and urged the new members to carry out their duties with integrity, wisdom and sound judgement.

He noted that their decisions will play a key role in strengthening trust and delivering justice within Uganda’s tax system.
