MAAIF Hands Over Vehicles to 69 Districts to Boost Climate-Smart Agriculture Project

The Uganda Climate-Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP) has handed over vehicles to 69 districts across the country to strengthen the implementation and monitoring of climate-smart agriculture initiatives at the local government level.

The vehicles were officially presented to district officials by the Under Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), Mrs. Aacha Mary Orikiriza, who represented the Permanent Secretary, Maj. Gen. David Kasura-Kyomukama, during a ceremony held in Namalere, Wakiso District.

The handover is expected to enhance mobility for district project teams, enabling them to effectively supervise project activities, provide technical support to farmers, and improve service delivery under the UCSATP programme.

To ensure the proper management and operation of the vehicles, all designated drivers have undergone comprehensive training covering vehicle operations and maintenance, operational safety, as well as traffic rules and regulations.

According to MAAIF, each vehicle is fitted with a 24-hour surveillance tracking chip, comprehensive insurance, a three-year warranty, and service coverage of up to 50,000 kilometres. These measures are intended to promote accountability, reliability, and efficient use of the vehicles throughout the project’s implementation.

The vehicle distribution forms part of ongoing efforts by the Government to strengthen institutional capacity at the district level and support the successful implementation of climate-smart agricultural interventions aimed at improving productivity, resilience, and sustainable agricultural development.
