The State Minister for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, has told Parliament that the majority of former students of St. Stephen Nursery Teachers’ College (SSNTC) have received their academic documents from Ndejje University.
Ogwang said the university has also processed 50 certificates and transcripts that are awaiting verification and collection, while some documents remain unprinted due to outstanding information from the Teachers’ College.
The Minister made the remarks while presenting a statement to Parliament on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, following concerns over the delayed release of academic transcripts and certificates.
He said Ndejje University attributed the delays partly to significant arrears accumulated by SSNTC. Under a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions, the college was responsible for remitting students’ tuition fees to the university.
The statement followed a directive by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa on 5 August 2026, after Hon. Eunice Otuko (UPC, Oyam County North) presented a petition on behalf of former SSNTC Director Ms Tamali Okao.
The petition claimed that 102 students who completed their studies between 2017 and 2022 under Ndejje University had not received their academic documents.
Ogwang said inconsistencies in figures provided by SSNTC had also complicated efforts to establish the exact number of affected students and the documents still required.
He said Ndejje University remains committed to resolving all outstanding cases and urged Otuko to work with him to address any remaining complaints administratively.
