The Uganda Police Force has launched investigations into a shooting incident that claimed the life of a boda boda rider at Ndejje Kanaaba in Katwe Police Division.
The incident occurred on 29 August 2026 at around 7:30 a.m., where police officers had been deployed to provide security during the National Cleaning Day community exercise.
According to preliminary information, the rider allegedly attempted to force his way through a secured area while riding his motorcycle. He was subsequently shot by Police Constable Allan Okello, attached to Ndejje Police Station.
Police said the officer has since been arrested as investigations continue to establish the circumstances under which he discharged his firearm.
The deceased has been preliminarily identified as Kizito Ronald Jjuuko, 38, through his National Identification Card.
Police said any use of force by officers must be lawful, necessary and proportionate, and guided by established operational procedures and the prevailing circumstances.
