Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has called on global investors to consider Uganda as an attractive investment destination, citing the country’s peace, security and government incentives as key enablers of business.
Nabbanja made the appeal during a panel discussion at the opening of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Summit in Dubai, where she addressed investors and business leaders from around the world.
The Prime Minister said Uganda has maintained peace and security for more than four decades, creating a stable environment for investors to establish and expand their businesses.
She assured investors that those who put their money into Uganda stand to benefit from incentives provided by Government to facilitate investment and support business growth.
Nabbanja also highlighted investment opportunities in the country’s agricultural and mineral sectors, urging investors to take advantage of Uganda’s abundant raw materials by investing in value addition and processing.
Uganda Investment Authority Director General Robert Mukiza said the summit provides an important platform for Uganda to showcase its investment opportunities to the global business community.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ethiopian President Taye Atske Selassie said Africa has a readily available pool of human capital that investors can tap into as they expand their businesses on the continent.
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and member of the UAE Supreme Council, said sustainable development should be viewed as a long-term process.
The 15th edition of the AIM Summit is being held under the theme “Towards a New Global Prosperity: Rebuilding the Future of Investment for Inclusive and Sustainable Development.”
The summit brings together government leaders, policymakers, investors, business executives and representatives of major corporations and international organisations to discuss emerging trends and opportunities in the global investment landscape.
It also provides a platform for participants to share experiences and develop solutions to challenges affecting investment, with the aim of promoting a more prosperous, sustainable and balanced global economy.
