The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has engaged local leaders in Katakwi District to assess the ongoing distribution of food relief to families affected by food shortages caused by a prolonged dry spell.
The engagement was led by the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Alex Kakooza, together with his technical team, including Acting Commissioner for Refugee Management Tony Ameny.
The team met local leaders in Katakwi to discuss the ongoing food relief distribution and assess the situation affecting communities in the district.
Katakwi is among the districts neighbouring the Karamoja sub-region, where Government has been distributing food relief to support families facing shortages due to the prolonged dry spell.
Following the engagement in Katakwi, the OPM team proceeded to Karamoja, where food relief distribution has been ongoing since July.
The intervention is aimed at supporting vulnerable communities affected by food shortages as Government responds to the impact of the prolonged dry conditions in the region.
