Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) has hosted the official launch of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) at 50 celebrations, bringing together PR practitioners, media professionals, industry pioneers and veteran communicators to mark five decades of public relations in Uganda.
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of public relations in Uganda and its growing role in strategic communication, corporate governance, public policy and crisis management.
UBC Public Relations Manager reaffirmed the national broadcaster’s commitment to supporting the profession, emphasizing the importance of communication in strategic decision-making.
UBC will continue to support PRAU and will continue to advocate for communications to always lead from the front.”
The gathering also highlighted the long-standing partnership between UBC and the PR fraternity, with both playing complementary roles in informing the public, shaping national narratives and supporting development communication.
Since its establishment, PRAU has evolved from a small collective of practitioners into a professional body championing ethical standards, professionalism and innovation in Uganda’s public relations industry.
The PRAU at 50 celebrations will continue throughout the year with commemorative events, professional development workshops and strategic engagements bringing together PR, media and corporate leaders from Uganda and beyond.
