Uganda, DRC Strengthen Cross-Border Coordination in Ebola Outbreak Response

Teams from Uganda continue to support Ebola outbreak response efforts in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as regional health authorities work to contain transmission and reduce the risk of the disease spreading across borders.

In Butembo, North Kivu Province, the teams hosted DRC National Incident Manager, Prof. Steve Ahuka, alongside national and provincial incident management teams, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

The meeting focused on progress made in the ongoing outbreak response and the operational needs required to strengthen containment efforts.

Prof. Ahuka conveyed his regards to Uganda’s leadership and committed to participating in cross-border coordination meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The continued collaboration highlights the importance of coordinated regional efforts in containing the outbreak at its source and limiting the risk of further spread into Uganda and the wider region.
