Speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Among attended the 18th meeting of the Bureau of East African Community (EAC) Speakers of National Legislatures and the East African Legislative Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya. This significant gathering acts as a crucial platform to advance the community’s integration agenda, deepen regional cooperation, and strengthen legislative ties among EAC member states.
Hon. Among extended her congratulations to Rt. Hon. Dr. Moses Wetang’ula on his appointment as the new chairperson of the Bureau, expressing her confidence in his leadership to steer the community towards a united and prosperous future. She noted that this transition marks an opportunity for renewed commitment to the shared goals of the EAC.
During her address, Hon. Among also called on her counterparts to support Uganda’s bid to co-host the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027. She emphasized that this endeavor would be of great benefit to the entire region, fostering unity and showcasing East Africa’s collective potential on an international stage.
