The National Drug Authority (NDA) has successfully concluded a three-month compliance enforcement operation targeting illegal drug outlets in Kampala Extra Region, covering Kampala and Wakiso districts.
This operation, covered the suburbs of Nansana, Kira, Makindye, Nakawa, Kawempe, Rubaga, Kyengera, Bweyogerere, Kajjansi, kasangati, Entebbe, Matugga, and Bulenga among many others across the region. As a result, over 900 drug outlets closed, 2,000 boxes of assorted medicines and 740 tins of ARVs worth over 1 billion Uganda shillings impounded, with 3 arrests made due to operating without a licenses, employing unqualified staff and possession of government of Uganda drugs among others.
This operation aligns with NDA’s mandate to protect and promote public health through effective regulation of human and animal medicines, as well as healthcare products.
