KCCA Top Management Surprises Lord Mayor Lukwago with Heartfelt Birthday Celebration, Honouring His Leadership and Service

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) senior management on Monday surprised Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago with a heartfelt birthday celebration during a scheduled top management meeting held in the Mayor’s Parlor.

The surprise, spearheaded by KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki alongside other senior officials, came a day after Mayor Lukwago turned 55 on May 11. The team presented him with a custom-made cake and a bouquet of flowers, visibly touching the Mayor as they honored his ongoing leadership and dedication to the city.

During the short ceremony, Executive Director Buzeki stated that the gesture was a symbol of gratitude for the Lord Mayor’s enduring commitment to Kampala and his cooperation with the technical team.

“A strong partnership between the political leadership and technical arm is essential for effective service delivery. Today, we celebrate the Lord Mayor not just for his birthday, but for the pivotal role he plays in Kampala’s transformation,” Buzeki remarked.

Lord Mayor Lukwago, who has held the office since 2011, remains the longest-serving mayor in Kampala’s history. In his response, he expressed appreciation to the KCCA team for the thoughtful surprise and emphasized the value of collaboration and unity in serving the people of Kampala.

“This gesture is truly humbling. I’m grateful for the kindness and for your tireless efforts to improve our city. Only through collective effort can we realize our shared vision,” Lukwago said.

The cheerful celebration highlighted the growing synergy between KCCA’s political and technical leadership—an important element in the city’s ongoing development efforts.
