NRM Deputy SG Namayanja Highlights Development Milestones in Greater Luwero

The Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko, has underscored the progress made in Greater Luwero under the stewardship of President Yoweri Museveni. While addressing supporters at the Buganda for Museveni gathering held at Kasana Playgrounds in Luwero District yesterday, Namayanja pointed out key strides in education and community well-being.

“Although Luwero has yet to reach its peak, significant progress has been made,” she remarked. “From only 57 schools in the past, the region now has 1,497 schools—evidence of the NRM’s dedication to ensuring every parish has a Universal Primary Education (UPE) school and every sub-county hosts a government seed school.”

She also emphasized the significance of the Parish Development Model (PDM), through which Luwero District has received Shs 26.33 billion to enable communities to drive their own economic transformation. “This is development by the people and for the people,” she noted.

Namayanja commended the ongoing NRM grassroots elections, dismissing allegations of exaggerated party registers. “The active participation at both parish and sub-county levels demonstrates that our party structures are intact and functioning. District-level elections will follow next Friday,” she confirmed.

Attorney General Hon. Kiryowa Kiwanuka reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Luwero, revealing that Shs 1.2 billion has already been allocated for the construction of district administrative offices, with another Shs 6.1 billion set aside for the current financial year. He also shared plans for a Shs 2.5 billion fruit processing plant to advance agro-industrialization and reduce post-harvest losses—an essential component of President Museveni’s economic agenda.

Hon. Agnes Kirabo Nantongo, the Central Region Youth MP and host of the event, vowed to strengthen the relationship between the citizens and government, promising to “relentlessly advocate for Luwero’s progress under the NRM.”

The rally drew attendance from cabinet ministers, MPs of the NRM Buganda Caucus, and local officials from across Greater Luwero.
