NRM Electoral Commission Rolls Out Guidelines for Ongoing Party Elections

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has issued a comprehensive update on the party’s ongoing electoral activities across the country.

In a statement released on Thursday, May 22, 2025, NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, confirmed that elections for non-unionised workers’ delegates to the district conferences are underway. Eligible participants must be Ugandan, listed in the NRM voters register, and employed with verifiable documentation such as an appointment letter, workplace ID, or proof of PAYE/NSSF.

The party is also set to elect its structures at district and city levels. Voting rights are extended to various categories, including NRM MPs, district executives, flag bearers, and leaders of special party organs at the sub-county and city division levels. Lord Councillors from the Kampala Capital City Authority will cast their votes in their respective city divisions of origin.

To express interest in leadership positions, aspirants are required to pay nomination fees ranging from UGX 50,000 to UGX 500,000, depending on the position sought. Elections for workers and entrepreneurs leagues are also scheduled at district and city levels.

Meanwhile, elections in some areas have been postponed due to various reasons. These include the President’s visit to Bunyoro, Luweero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola, a petition in Arua City, and issues regarding missing delegates in Amolatar.

Dr. Odoi encouraged all eligible members to actively participate in the democratic process and ensure a smooth electoral exercise.
