Permanent Secretary and Chief of Protocol, delivered remarks on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU). He highlighted the historic unity shown by African leaders in 1963, which laid the foundation for liberation and integration across the continent.
This yearโs Africa Day theme, โRevisiting our History, Shaping our Future,โ reminds us that Africaโs past is rich with lessons and resilience. Amb. Ssentongo emphasized Africaโs continued progress through initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area and Agenda 2063.
These efforts aim to drive inclusive, sustainable development. He called on Africans to embrace self-determination and find homegrown solutions to their challenges. The Ambassador reaffirmed Ugandaโs commitment to a prosperous and united Africa. He encouraged deepening partnerships and collaboration. Africa Day, he concluded, is both a celebration and a call to shape our collective destiny.
