United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed deep concern over the use of force by the United States against Iran, calling it a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region.
Guterres warned that the situation poses a direct threat to international peace and security, with the potential to spiral out of control, risking catastrophic consequences for civilians, the region, and the world.
He urged all UN Member States to focus on de-escalation and to uphold international law, emphasizing that there is no military solution to the crisis. “The only path forward is diplomacy. The only hope is peace,” he stated.
