The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Honorary Consulate of Uganda in Israel, has issued a consular notice guiding Ugandan nationals on safe evacuation options as tensions between Israel and Iran intensify.
Key evacuation route:
Ugandan citizens are advised to exit via the Allenby Bridge into Jordan, and proceed to book Ethiopian Airlines flights from Amman to Addis Ababa and onward to Entebbe. Visas for Uganda passport holders are issued on arrival at the border, provided the traveler has a valid passport, no immigration bans, and proof of funds or onward travel.
Important:
Flights from Amman are in high demand. Travelers are strongly encouraged to book Ethiopian Airlines tickets before crossing the border to avoid being stranded.
Additionally, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism is coordinating potential evacuation flights for foreign nationals. However, details regarding these flights remain uncertain and availability is not guaranteed.
In the meantime, all Ugandan citizens in Israel are urged to comply with safety guidelines from the Israeli Home Front Command, including:
- Downloading the official alert app
- Staying near protected shelters
- Limiting movement, especially in high-risk areas like Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Be’er Sheva
For urgent support, the Honorary Consul, Mr. Yaron Tamir, remains available to assist.
