The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, held a meeting with H.E. Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, who was accompanied by H.E. Vu Than Huyen, Ambassador-designate of Vietnam to Uganda. On this occasion, Ambassador Huyen presented copies of her Letters of Credence to the Minister.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations, recalling the historic State Visit of H.E. the President of Uganda to Vietnam in November 2022. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, and multilateral diplomacy.
Vietnam invited Uganda to participate in the upcoming signing of the UN “Hanoi Convention” against cybercrime and requested Uganda’s support for its candidacy in international forums. Uganda, in turn, welcomed Vietnam’s proposals on joint ventures and pending cooperation agreements, particularly in agriculture and fisheries.
Hon. Odongo reiterated Uganda’s commitment to advancing shared values and mutual aspirations, noting the strong partnership within frameworks such as the Non-Aligned Movement. Both sides agreed to continue close engagement through diplomatic channels to follow up on the agreed areas of cooperation
