Uganda has reaffirmed its firm commitment to the “One China Principle” as the country marks the 63rd anniversary of Uganda–China diplomatic relations.
In a statement, the Government of Uganda emphasized that the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, with Taiwan as an inalienable part. Uganda reiterated its consistent opposition to any attempts to create “two Chinas,” “one China, one Taiwan,” or to promote “Taiwan independence” in any form, including efforts by Taiwan to join international or regional organizations composed only of sovereign states.
The Government further clarified that Uganda maintains no official or diplomatic relations with Taiwan and expressed support for all efforts by the Chinese Government toward the realization of national reunification, describing the Taiwan question as China’s internal affair.
