Uganda Welcomes Mauritius Travel-Trade Delegation for a High-Level Familiarization Mission

The Uganda High Commission, Dar-e-Salaam, in partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), AfriReps Consult, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other sector stakeholders, on Saturday 22nd November 2025, received a Mauritius Travel-Trade Delegation at Entebbe International Airport for a week-long familiarization mission aimed at strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation, boosting commercial visibility, and expanding inter-market partnerships.

Arriving aboard Kenya Airways, the delegation was welcomedwith Uganda’s renowned hospitality, signalling the start of an immersive journey through the Pearl of Africa’s signature landscapes, conservation achievements, and rich cultural heritage. This mission aligns with Uganda’s wider strategy to promote Africa-to-Africa tourism, advance continental collaboration, and position Uganda as a premier sustainable destination on the global market.

Representing the Uganda High Commission in Dar-e-Salaam, Ms. Laura Kahuga, First Secretary, warmly welcomed the delegation, encouraging them to feel at home as they embark on an immersive journey through Uganda’s remarkable tourism offerings and experience the country’s renowned warmth, cultural vibrancy, and exceptional hospitality.

In her remarks during the reception, Ms. Kahuga underscored the significance of the familiarization mission as a strategic milestone in advancing tourism diplomacy. She noted that Uganda’s diverse natural treasures, conservation leadership, and rich cultural heritage offer unmatched potential for joint promotion and expanded cross-border trade. “This initiative reflects our shared commitment to strengthening African tourism corridors and enhancing cooperation anchored in sustainability, knowledge exchange, and market diversification,” she emphasized. “By hosting Mauritius’ top travel-trade representatives, Uganda demonstrates its readiness to cultivate new connections, shape fresh narratives, and unlock broader opportunities across the region.”

The seven-day programme will take the team through some of Uganda’s most iconic attractions, including Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest, the Batwa cultural experience, and the globally acclaimed gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi. Each activity has been curated to demonstrate Uganda’s tourism strengths, conservation successes, and the integral role tourism plays in the country’s economic diplomacy. Throughout the mission, delegates will engage with tourism authorities, conservation experts, cultural institutions, and private-sector leaders to explore opportunities for structured collaboration, joint promotional initiatives, and improved connectivity between Uganda and Mauritius.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UTB reaffirm that this familiarization visit is not only a celebration of Uganda’s tourism excellence but also a testament to Africa’s immense potential when countries build partnerships, invest in each other, and present a unified voice on the global travel stage.
