In the spirit of compassion, generosity and community that defines the holy month of Ramadan, we partnered with Salaam Charity to donate assorted food supplies to three Muslim-founded schools in Kampala.
The donations were delivered by Standard Chartered staff together with our client Multi-choice to Jakayz Secondary School in Kabowa, Namasuba and Asiyah Kids Academy in Kiteezi to support students and staff of those schools as they observe the fasting period. The food packages included essential items commonly used for preparing meals during Ramadan.
This annual initiative reflects our continued commitment to standing alongside communities during important cultural and religious moments, while supporting institutions that nurture the next generation.

The handover was led by Margaret Kigozi, the Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing who was accompanied by colleagues from Standard Chartered Uganda during visits to the various schools.
Speaking during the engagements, Margaret said the gesture is enshrined in the Bank’s Diversity & Inclusion agenda that supports its workforce and community.
“Ramadan is the time for introspection, empathy and generosity, and it is also a time to celebrate the rich religious and cultural celebrations that define the vibrant communities we work in. It is also a time to renew our dedication to our core values and deepen our connections with our colleagues, clients and communities.

At Standard Chartered, we believe in walking alongside our communities during moments that matter most. Throughout our three-year partnership with Salaam Charity, we have had the opportunity to break fast with various Muslim communities. It is therefore our hope that this small contribution helps make the fasting period a little easier for the beneficiaries and draw us closer with everyone observing this holy month.”
The visits also created an opportunity for staff from the bank to interact with students and school leadership, reinforcing the importance of education, community solidarity, and shared responsibility. Through partnerships with organisations like Salaam Charity, Standard Chartered Uganda continues to support initiatives that strengthen communities and promote inclusive growth across the country.
