The President of the Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA), Muwanga Mark Cyrus, has reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to strengthening governance and expanding international partnerships following a high-level meeting with the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Director of Governance, Dr. Andres Constantin, at the ITTF Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the future development of table tennis in Uganda, with particular emphasis on governance, compliance, and long-term growth. Dr. Constantin congratulated the UTTA leadership on the successful Annual General Meeting and the ratification of its Executive Board, commending the association’s commitment to transparency and good governance.
Cyrus Muwanga highlighted UTTA’s ongoing efforts to align fully with Uganda’s national sports act, noting that obtaining a Certificate of Compliance will strengthen the administration of the sport and enhance opportunities for sustainable development and investment.
The discussions also focused on Uganda’s ambition to host the Africa Senior Championships in the coming years. Muwanga expressed appreciation to the ITTF for identifying Uganda as one of the beneficiary countries to receive equipment support, including international-standard tables. The support is expected to improve the country’s readiness to stage international competitions while creating better training opportunities for players.
During the visit, Muwanga also congratulated ITTF President Petra Sörling and the federation’s leadership on the successful organization of the ITTF Annual General Meeting held in London.
As part of his official engagements in Lausanne, the UTTA President visited the International Olympic Committee Headquarters and the Olympic Museum, underscoring Uganda’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the global Olympic Movement.
