The Government has delivered more than 9.4 million kilograms of food relief to families in Karamoja over the past two months in response to food shortages caused by a prolonged dry spell in the sub-region.
The Office of the Prime Minister said the food was procured by Government to support vulnerable families affected by the worsening food situation.
The relief distribution has covered all nine districts of Karamoja, reaching 480 parishes and 313,987 households.
The intervention is aimed at providing immediate food support to communities facing shortages as a result of prolonged dry conditions affecting the sub-region.
Government has continued to deploy food relief as part of its response to the effects of the dry spell, with distribution targeting households most affected by the food shortages.
The Office of the Prime Minister said the ongoing intervention is intended to support affected families as efforts continue to address the food security challenges in Karamoja.
