NCBA Bank Uganda has partnered with MAC East Africa to provide financing for schools seeking to acquire buses.
The School Bus Financing Partnership was launched at Protea Hotel Kampala under the theme, Driving the Future of Our Schools.
Under the arrangement, eligible schools can access up to 100 per cent financing to purchase school buses, with repayment periods of up to 72 months and a repayment holiday of up to 90 days.
The package also includes free servicing and maintenance, comprehensive insurance and free tracker installation.
Julius Konyani, Executive Director of NCBA Bank Uganda, said the partnership is designed to help schools acquire transport without having to meet the full cost upfront.
“At NCBA, we believe banking is not simply about providing financial products. It is about understanding our customers’ ambitions and providing solutions that help turn those ambitions into reality,” Konyani said.
He said reliable school transport can make it easier for parents and learners while allowing schools to serve families beyond their immediate locations.
MAC East Africa will provide the vehicles and automotive support under the partnership.
Aditya Arora, Country General Manager at MAC East Africa, said access to reliable transport remains important for schools and the families they serve.
“A school bus is more than a vehicle. It is an important part of a school’s ability to provide a reliable service to learners and parents,” Arora said.
The launch also brought together representatives from the education sector and the Ministry of Works and Transport, with discussions focusing on road safety and the transportation of learners.
Apollo Kashanku, Assistant Commissioner for Transport Regulation and Safety at the Ministry of Works and Transport, said schools must consider safety when investing in transport.
He said safe school transport depends on reliable vehicles, responsible operators and proper safety measures.
