“The Suspects in the Killing of Joan Kagezi Have Finally, Been Arrested” – President Museveni

President Museveni announced the arrest of the long-elusive killers of prosecutor Joan Kagezi. The suspects, identified as Kibuuka John, Masajjage John, Kissekka Dan, and Nasur Abdalla, were apprehended by ISO and CID operatives while riding on two motorcycles.

“I congratulate ISO and CID on the good work. They will soon be produced in Court” the President stated

The President commended the agencies for their diligent work and stated that the suspects would soon face justice in court. Kagezi, who was the lead prosecutor in the 2010 bomb suspects’ trial, was tragically gunned down in 2015. Despite years of searching, her killers had evaded capture until now.

President Museveni had previously revealed that one of the killers was hiding abroad, prompting his directive to the DPP to pursue the suspect.

Challenges, including international legal complexities and disagreements over death penalties, had hindered their swift extradition, but the recent arrests mark a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice for Kagezi’s murder.
