Parliament Director Responds to Opposition Allegations of Corruption: Hearsay or Substance?

The Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Parliament, Chris Obore, has criticized the opposition wing over allegations of corruption. Obore states that Parliament cannot respond to hearsay.

Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, urges the Speaker of Parliament to address what they perceive as the outcomes of the ongoing social media exhibition, which criticizes Parliament for corruption.

According to Ssenyonyi, there is illicit money being spent by Parliament without proper procedures, including allegations that some Members of Parliament received 100 million each last week. Ssenyonyi also questions his lack of involvement in the sittings of the parliamentary commission.

However, Obore clarifies that the commission meets quarterly and has not convened its meetings since August last year.
