The Ministry of Water and Environment, through the Forest Sector Support Department, has officially launched the Uganda National Agroforestry Strategy (2024/25–2033/34) at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala. The strategy was unveiled during the End-of-Year National Apiculture Multi-Stakeholder Platform under the theme “Sustaining Bee Health & the Environment through Agroforestry and Regulated Use of Agrochemicals.”

Presiding over the launch, the Permanent Secretary, Dr Alfred Okot Okidi, noted that the new strategy provides Uganda with a clear and coordinated framework for expanding agroforestry across the country. He emphasized that adopting agroforestry practices will help restore degraded landscapes, protect biodiversity, strengthen climate-resilient livelihoods, and contribute to a greener and more prosperous nation.

The strategy’s overarching goal is to integrate trees into all farming systems to enhance livelihoods, improve ecosystem services, and support climate change mitigation efforts.
The launch was supported by Wood en Daad, Trias, the Uganda National Apiculture Development Organization (TUNADO), and other partners committed to promoting sustainable land management and pollinator conservation.
