The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Odongo Jeje Abubaker, held a meeting with Ambassador Fatima Yeseina Fernandez Juarez of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Uganda, today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and Venezuela, with discussions centered on advancing cooperation in key sectors including oil and gas, energy, mining, agriculture, petrochemicals, and research and development.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to South-South cooperation and pledged to maintain ongoing diplomatic and technical dialogue. They resolved to convene the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) soon to formalize and scale up cooperation.
Ambassador Fernandez expressed Venezuela’s readiness to share technical expertise in upstream production, refining, and petrochemical development.
They both appreciated the existing cooperation and look forward to further high-level engagements during the upcoming swearing-in ceremony in May 2026.
